Prolonged computer use linked with dry eye. This is a prevalence study from Japan that looked at the risk factors for dry eye in over 3,000 office workers. Results showed that viewing a computer monitor more than 4 hours and contact lens wear significantly increased the risk of developing dry eye. Intraocular pressure and central corneal thickness influence glaucoma risk. This is a cross-sectional study using data from 5,790 participants in the Los Angeles Latino Eye Study. Analysis showed that high intraocular pressure exponentially increased the prevalence of open-angle glaucoma. In addition, thin central corneal thickness was another independent risk factor associated with a higher prevalence of glaucoma. Click here to learn more about Glaucoma!
